Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem On May 11 , someone took a wallet containing personal papers, $180 U.S., and a social security card, from a purse at 1225 Franklin Avenue... On May 12 , 10:55 AM, a thief stole an armful of shirts at Lord and Taylor and made a run for it heading northbound on Franklin Avenue. An investigation continues... PO Florio arrested a 23-year-old Baldwin man for alleged DWI (.16%), aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, alleged speeding at 70 in a 30 mph zone, no insurance and unsafe lane change at Stewart Avnue on May 13... PO Bandl stopped a motorist for headlights not being on at Rockaway Avenue on May 13. The Baldwin 16-year-old male was arrested for unlicensed operation, DWI refusal, and equipment violations... On May 12 , PO Reilly arrested a 46-year-old Huntington woman for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, ( 8 suspensions on 3 dates), speeding at allegedly 40 in a 30 mph zone, and for the obstruction of a rear license plate at Clinton Rd... Someone took over $10,000 in US currency, mainly a coin collection, at Chester Avenue, on May 10... A 63-year-old Hewlett woman stole a Polo and Lacoste shirt with a total value of $147 at Lord and Taylor, on May 9... A truck stop was conducted at NHP Rd. on May 11, with 15 trucks inspected, 87 tickets issued, and 10 trucks taken out of service with 5 weight violations... PO Sommer arrested a 21-year-old Valley Stream male for presenting a forged prescription at CVS Pharmacy, Franklin Avenue, on May 10. His friend, a 26-year-old from Forest Hills was also arrested for forging the document... Fire Responses: An odor of smoke from a fireplace caused alarm at a Merillon Ave. house on May 9... An overheated light ballast caused alarm at an Oxford Blvd. residence on May 11... An experiment in Room 344 at Adelphi University caused smoke there on the same day... A bird's nest came to close to a light bulb on a street light at Claydon Rd. on May 11, and the heat from that bulb caused a small fire there. A booster was used... An electric meter at a Euston Rd. house had smoke coming from it on May 11, and LIPA was notified... FD rescued a person trapped in an elevator at 520 Franklin Ave after a power outage occurred there on May 14... Firemen positioned a generator at a St. James St. South house, in order to assist a child's life support during the power outage on May 14...A tree branch came down in the rear of Lincoln Street on May 15...That's all this week.
