Every October, many members of The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead enroll in several art classes, continuing a tradition begun in 1933 by member Peggy Ott.
They may practice rug hooking with instructor Viola Weinberg, or learn how to use various art mediums including Pastels (instructor - Arleen Rueth,) Botanicals (instructor Rose Pellicano,) Oil Painting (instructor - Harriet Crotenuto) or Watercolors (instructor - Rose Pellicano).
They work diligently every week and finally, in May, they are ready to exhibit their handiwork to fellow club members. This year, the exhibit took place at the last general meeting of the club on May 2 nd. The pictures were mounted under the supervision of Muriel Urban. Everyone was impressed by the professionalism of the art work.
