Local Artist Supports Historical Society
Longtime local resident and accomplished artist Suzie Alvey is lending her talent to assist The Garden City Historical Society in ensuring another successful A.T. Stewart Flea Market. This year's event takes place on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, on the Historical Society Museum grounds, 109 Eleventh Street. Mrs. Alvey is contributing to the raffle prizes by giving one lucky winner the gift of a "house portrait." Since 1980, Mrs. Alvey's house portraits have been painted with well defined, tightly controlled perspective to enhance architectural details in her subject buildings. Her portraits can be found in many fine Garden City homes. Sharing a look at one of Mrs. Alvey's portraits is Historical Society President Brian Pinnola.
