Varsity Baseball

The Varsity Baseball Squad took 3 games from Carey this past week. The Trojans (8-3, 10-4 overall) are tied with Hewlett for the lead in Conference A1. Garden City also posted a new league win over Herricks.

Rob Finnegan improved to 3-1 pitching 5 innings of shut out ball. Finnegan yielded 3 hits with 7 strike outs.

The 19 hit offense was led by Bob Fargnioli (3-4, 3 RBI's); Matt Emmert (2-3, 3 RBI's); Ryan Sweeney (2-5, 3 RBI's) and /finneran (3-4, 4 RBI's)

The Trojans allowed 5 unearned runs with faulty defense.

Bob Fargnoli (2-3) and Kevin Volpe (1-2, 2 RBI's) led the offense.

Senior Ryan Maloney got his third win of the year pitching 6 innings. Maloney yielded 2 unearned Runs on 5 hits, striking out 6.

Rob Finneran hit his 6th home run in the 1st inning to give Garden City a 7-0 lead. Garden City added a run in the 5th inning. Ryan Sweeney, singled and scored on a double by Fred Stutzmann. Pat Sylvester drew a bases loaded walk in the 5th to push the lead to 5-2.

Sylvester Recorded the same retiring the 3 Seahawks he faced in the 7th inning.

Junior Andrew Cauchi earned his first varsity win. The Trojans offense pounded out 20 hits . Matt Emmert went 5 for 5. Rob Finneran and Kevin Volpe had 2 hits with 3 RBI's each.

Andrew Rocco's pinch hit bases loaded triple cleared the bases in the 4th inning giving Garden City an 8-2 lead.

Seniors Matt Emmert .489; Rob Finneran .463; and Kevin Volpe .435 are leading the Trojans offense.
