GC Destroyers vs. Oyster Bay Fusion

Connor Brown makes a great save
The GC U10 Destroyers soccer team came out ready to play against the first place Oyster Bay Fusion under clear skies last Saturday. The boys were pressing the action in the offensive end until the Fusion broke through to score early in the first half. Harry Furey had two scoring attempts but the Fusion goalie was on the ball quickly. Two Fusion defenders took down Christopher Gormley as he drove to the net as their goalie scooped up the ball.

The second half was a nail-biter as the Destroyers offense continued to fight hard to score. The defensive line struggled to keep the Fusion at bay. William Hammersley had a free kick in the second half, but could not break through the Fusion wall. The Oyster Bay team was a tough team and even after a disappointing loss, the Destroyers came away a more unified team.

The Destroyers deserve credit for their tenacity last week. They face the Wantagh Seaford Dominators tomorrow at 11am at Nassau Haven Park. Come out and support the team. Let's go Destroyers!
