Second Term As Village Fire Chief

2nd Term Fire Chief, John P. Casey

On Thursday, April 19th, John P. Casey was installed by Mayor Peter Bee, as Chief of the Garden City Fire Department. Chief Casey was re-elected to a second term as Chief of the Department at the department's April annual meeting. In addition, Assistant Chiefs James Meehan, William Graham and Charles Cavarra were installed once again as Assistant Chiefs in the Garden City Fire Department. Chief John P. Casey has served the Village for nearly 30 years as a volunteer firefighter. In his capacity of Fire Chief, Chief Casey and his Assistant Chiefs command the entire department of both volunteer and headquarters company firefighters, a force of over 135 firefighters.

Also elected to command positions in the fire department were: Captains Ed Moran, J. Anthony Adams, Stefan Artz and Bill Castoro, Lieutenants James Meehan, Eric Ahlfeld, Joe Clark and Matt Tittler. Elected Corporate Officers were Secretary Steve Carss, Assistant Secretary Greg Young, Treasurer Gerry Whalen and Assistant Treasurer Bob Kalb. Ex-Chief C. Richard Gardner was re-elected to his Nassau County Fire Commission delegate position as well.
