Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On April 13, 3:40 AM, PO Hickey arrested a 28-year-old College Point Queens man for alleged speeding at 50 in a 30, allegedly driving over yellow lines, and for alleged DWI ( .12%), at Clinton Rd... On April 15, 3:45 AM, PO Oswald arrested a 30-year-old Hempstead man for the alleged failure to signal a lane change, alleged speeding at 52 in a 30, unlicensed operation, no insurance, no registration, and the alleged inability to stay in a lane, at Clinton Rd...Someone damaged a GPS antenna on a Mercedes parked in a Ninth Street driveway, at approximately 1:30 AM, on April 15. Gates were knocked down and spotlights were found smashed there...On April 11, a truck inspection was conducted at Clinton Rd, with the DOT at the scene. 13 trucks were inspected, 6 trucks were taken out of service, and 69 tickets issued. Also, a 60-year-old Roosevelt man, was arrested for unlicensed operation because of a revocation for a DWI offense...On April 15, someone used a large lead pipe to break a window at the Orchid Restaurant, Franklin Avenue. $200 in damage... In the afternoon of April 12, someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a Fossil watch and personal belongings, with a $350 value, at Railroad Avenue...PO Wedra arrested a 39-year-old Hempstead woman for aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree (6 suspensions, 6 dates), no insurance, no inspection, at Clinton Rd. The motorist was initially stopped because of tinted windows... On April 12, someone stole a wallet containing credit cards, a cell phone, eyeglasses, and a purse from a closet at Hemlock School... Police officers responded to an FD call at NHP Road, on April 10, and after Detectives Rothermel and Madden investigated, with the assistance of the FD, detectives arrested a 50-year-old Franklin Square man for falsely reporting an incident involving a fire, a felony second degree. It seems the man had a prior dispute with another homeowner...

On April 13 , the FD cleaned up after an accident occurred at Stewart Ave./ Raymond Court... Firemen found a dimmer switch had overheated at an East Drive house on April 15, and they shut down the electric there... FD helped evacuate water from a Meadbrook residence on April 15... A brush fire occurred at Franklin Avenue on April 17 and a booster was used... Natural ventilation was used to remove smoke after an oven fire at a Chestnut Street house on April 17...That's all this week. G. T.
