"Looking At Lupus" Free Lecture Winthrop-University Hospital's Women's Health Forum will offer a free lecture, "Looking at Lupus: Managing the Disease With a Thousand Faces" on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 7:00 PM. The program will be held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard, at the corner of Second Street in Mineola. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that has a wide variety of symptoms. Although it is not curable, it is treatable. Kristina Belostocki, MD, Attending Physician in Winthrop's Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology, will discuss how to live well with lupus. She will provide an overview of the disease, as well as discuss theories about its potential causes and current information about treatment options, including new ways to use approved drugs. "There is always new data emerging about ongoing research and the progress that's being made," said Dr. Belostocki. A question and answer period will follow the lecture. Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:45 PM and to park in the rear of the building. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To register, please call 1-888-53-WOMEN. The Women's Health Forum is a community health education program coordinated by Women's Health Services, part of Winthrop's Institute for Family Care. For information on other free community education programs offered at the Hospital, call 1-866-WINTHROP.
