Father Gabriel Muteru, Honorary Chairman, and the Board of Trustees of the St. John's Kenyan Children's Foundation cordially invite everyone to attend our first major fundraiser, a Wine Tasting Reception, to be held next weekend, on Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 8pm to 11pm, at Kellenberg Memorial High School, 1400 Glenn Curtiss Blvd., Uniondale, NY. The cost to attend this event is $25 per person. In addition to enjoying fine wines and hors d'oeuvres, there will be a Chinese Auction and a Silent Auction with great prizes for all. Some of the prizes include: Box tickets to major sports events, Signed sports memorabilia, a Gift Basket donated by well-known Psychic Medium John Edward including two Gallery Reading tickets, a chance to be a Guest Weather Announcer on the CW11 Morning Show, and an opportunity for 6 people to visit the studios and sit through a live news broadcast of the CW11 Evening News; other prizes include fine pieces of jewelry, signed lithograph painting donated by Sunflower Galleries, an autographed Nelson DeMille book, gift certificates to fine local restaurants such as The Garden City Hotel, Waterzooi, Novita, Calageros, Walk Street, Grimaldi's, The Orchid, Asian Moon, La Bottega, Starbucks, and many more great prizes.

The newly created, St. John's Kenyan Children's Foundation, is a registered NY State not for profit organization, 501-3C approved, whose mission is to provide an education and to promote the welfare of orphan Kenyan children.

The educational system in Kenya is very different than ours in the U.S. In Kenya, as in other countries in Africa, children are granted basic public elementary education. High school education is a luxury only for those children who upon passing the entrance exam, can afford to pay the boarding and tuition fees required by all secondary schools.

At the present time our foundation is providing a high school education for 8 orphan children, and we plan to continue to provide this opportunity to other children who will become high school age in the near future.

This Wine Tasting reception next weekend offers a wonderful opportunity for all supporters to share an evening of fun with good friends, and at the same time, will help raise the much needed funds to pay for school fees and all the necessary basic needs of the orphan Kenyan children.

We encourage everyone who received an invitation to mail in the reservation cards as soon as possible. Walk-ins are welcome. If you would like to call in your reservation, call Barbara Debold at 741-9325 or Kathy Billanti at 742-2991. If you cannot join us for this special evening, donations may be sent to St. John's Kenyan Children's Foundation, P. O. Box 411, Garden City, NY 11530.
