Socially Speaking
C.M.F. started out the last week of March with their Spring Card Party and Boutique and what a success it was. Shopping was great, luncheon delightful, and then followed the card games. Enjoying the afternoon were: Maureen Uzzi, Mary Allis, Florence Freda, Rosemary Brown, Claire Burns, Gail Vitale, Grace Murphy, Doris Stewart, and Jean Fowler. So you can see they had a full house. Next up with a Spring event was the Garden City Historical Society with a splendid presentation of the Victorian Gardens by a wonderful English lady (formerly a resident of Garden City) and a volunteer at Old Westbury Gardens. She had the interested audience eating out of her hands (or rather her slides) and to top it off, they had some very nice refreshments that followed, the talk. Brian Pinnola , President of the Historical society is doing a great job coming up with innovative programs and ideas along with his committee. Among the many attending were: Isabel Smith, Martha Widner, Kris Harder, Maureen Clancy, and Carol Efthimiou. Do watch this paper for their upcoming events and better still become a member and join in the fun. The G.C. League for Helen Keller Services for the Blind, will be holding their Spring Card Party on Thursday, April 26 th from 12 to 4 p.m. at the G.C. Community Church. There will be Table Prizes and a Boutique Table for your shopping pleasure. Reservations in the amount of $11 per person will be taken by Mrs. William Vinciguerra, 85 Hayes Street, Garden City, N.Y. 11530. Make your check payable to Garden City League H.K.S.B. The event will be Co-Chaired by Mrs. R.L. Wassmer and Mrs. Anthony Annunziato . This is always a fun event so get your reservation in promptly. Happy Birthday wishes go to Louise Abitable who will be celebrating her special day as April begins. May you have a wonderful day and a great year filled with health and happiness as you are one lady who deserves all of that and may you have many more Birthdays. A very special gentleman - Howard Otte - will also be celebrating a very special day on the 11 th of April. That will mark Howard's 98 th Birthday and may he have a wonderful day and all that comes with the love and respect of his family and friends. We note with sadness the passing of Eunice Trayer not too long ago. Eunice was active in the life of the Community Church and could also be found playing her favorite game (bridge) at the Garden City Country Club with her many friends. She was a fun loving lady who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family in their time of sorrow. She will be missed by all who knew her. Pat Dalton 's daughter Sally will be directing the Northport Woodwind Ensemble for the Community Church's Thursday Luncheon group on April 12 th and you can be sure that Mom will be there cheering them on. This group is open to anyone from noon to 1:30 and all you have to do is bring a sandwich. Dessert, coffee and tea will be served and then you can enjoy a lovely program. The Hostesses for this date will be Carolyn Kaiser and Janice Salem. That's all for this week. Just watch out for the bunnies as you drive around town and don't miss the Easter Parade. | |||||
