Jack Morrison Is GrandMarshal Of Easter Parade
In the automobile business all of his life, Jack was the first Volkswagon dealer on Long Island. He owned a collection of fine antique and classic cars - notably a 1935 Packard convertible which garnered 70 different trophies. In 1997, Jack Morrison initiatead the Chamber's Easter Car Parade as we know it today, single-handedly running it, assisted by the Chamber staff for 16 years. Jack has served the Chamber in several volunteer capacities, including service as a director on the Board of the Toll Lodge Preservation Association, charged with the restoration of the historic Garden City Toll Lodge, home of the Chamber. The Chamber had paid tribute to Jack in an edition of its Community Guide, and in 1991, named him "Most Valuable Chamber Volunteer" for his 16 years of service to the Chamber of Commerce. Perhaps Jack's most significant and most meaningful accomplishment is his service to the Garden City Volunteer Fire Department where he has been an active and treasured member for 72 years. Chief John Casey has arranged for Jack to lead off the Parade in either Garden City's antique fire truck, or in one of the Chiefs' cars (depending on the weather). Jack Morrison is a special and accomplished individual and Honorary Member of the Chamber which is proud to salute him as Grand Marshal of the 2007 Easter Vintage Car Parade. For Parade information, please call the Chamber at (516) 746-7724, and for sponsorship information or for member showcase opportunities, contact Tracey Gittere at Legendary Events (516) 222-0550.
