Garden City Basketball The 7th/8th/9th grade Boys program, "Friday Night Lights", has rescheduled its PIZZA Party at Stewart School 8pm March 23rd. We will also have our normal fun filled street ball being played. Make sure you attend the last Saturday intramural session on March 24th to receive your certificate of appreciation/accomplishment from the JrNBA/JrWNBA for participating in Garden City Basketball. Everyone 6th grade and under also gets a Garden City Basketball MEDAL! The Girls 5th/6th/7th grade intramurals ended on March 17th with an exciting game versus the coaches. The remaining Saturday programs run in their normal timeslots and end on March 24th. We have great news for the Sunday March 25th "Hoops that Help" event. We will have Tom Pecora Hofsta's Head Coach, James Cosgrove Adelphi's Men's Coach, Kelley Watts Adelphi Women's Coach, Larry Steimer Garden City Men's Varsity Coach, Howie Frajberg Valley Stream North's Varsity Men's Coach, and local college/high school players providing expert instruction at our sessions. Our schedule in the Adelphi gym is for three sessions; * 10am 7-10year olds, * Noon 11-13 year olds, and * 2pm 14-18 year olds at the Adelphi University Gym. (You may choose attend any session you wish) "Hoops that Help" is a charity basketball clinic that Garden City Basketball has partnered with TWIGs of Winthrop University Hospital to benefit Winthrop's Child Life Program. The Child Life Program focuses on helping children cope with the fear and anxiety of hospitalization. This special event will be hosted by Adelphi University's Athletic Department. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and everyone will have the opportunity to win an exciting raffle prize and receive a "Hoopster" t-shirt! Teams are formed only if there are enough participants and qualified coaches. Deadline to form teams is mid-April.
