Easter Car Parade To Be Gala Event

Plans are in motion for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce's 52nd annual Easter Sunday Vintage Car Parade to be held on April 8. The parade will step off on Franklin Avenue at Tenth Street. Antique, classic, and special interest cars throughout the metropolitan area are expected to participate in the lineup. In the lead will be 91-year old Honorary Chamber member John (Jack) W. Morrison, well-known for his collection of antique and vintage cars and past chairman of the Easter Car Parade for 16 years. Mr. Morrison will serve as Grand Marshal. Also in the lead will be the traditional Kiwanis Easter Bunnies.
Spectators are welcome to preview the hundreds of magnificent vintage car specimens at the staging area in Parking Field 9E on Franklin Avenue between Tenth and Eleventh Streets from10 a.m. to 1 p.m. when the parade steps off at Ninth Street, heading south on Franklin and west on Seventh Street to Hilton Avenue where it disperses.
Many exciting activities have been added to this year's event to include the Town of Hempstead's Showmobile, musical MC, Bert Donley, the renowned Banjo Rascals, wandering Easter Bunnies and more. The famed Ben's Deli will provide their special hot dogs and there will be the traditional "hot pretzel man." The Kiwanis Bunnies will also distribute lollipops on Seventh Street during the parade.
This year, the Chamber offers showcase booths with representatives from both the automotive industry along with Chamber members interested in showcasing their products and services..
