"Americana" - New Musical Coming March 16-18

Everyone's 50's favorite, "Elvis".
The new musical, "Americana" will be performed at Gardner Hall at the Garden City Community Church on March 16 through 18. Written by Guy Milone and presented by the Garden City Community Theatre, the original musical chronicles the changes and conflicts among generations from the 1950's through the 1980's. Do parents every really understand teenagers and visa versa? What happens when the former teenager is now the parent of a teenager herself? Some of the situations are humorous, but some of the conflicts are heart rending.

The Garden City Community Theatre enters its second decade bringing original musicals to the stage. Consistently selling out all tickets, the non-profit organization has strived to not just entertain, but introduce and teach acting, directing, and stagecraft skills to local residents. John Mezzo and Melissa Ryan return from last year's hilarious production of Empire State, accompanied by several Garden City senior students who have been with the theatre group for nearly a decade including Jonathon Muscarella, Gemma Dinofrio, Brittney Stein, Caitlin Crowly, Ashley Galligan, and Allie Peck. Songs feature arrangements by Marilyn Varriale with Musical Director Kim Oler and choreography by Donna Rotella. The three distinct generational eras were each created by their own directing team: Andy and Nancy Morreale (1956), John and Cathryn Mezzo (1968), and Guy and Christina Milone (1985).
