News From The Children's Room

CALLING ALL ARTISTS: March is SAFETY month in the Children's Room at the Garden City Public Library. The Children's Librarians want all residents ages 2 1/2 through Grade 5 to create, design and color POSTERS on the topic of safety. All posters will be displayed as of April 1, 2007. The deadline for submitting a poster is March 31, 2007. Be creative and unique!

Come in to the Children's Room and check out some new software that has been added to some of our computers. Sports-minded children can now play Backyard Baseball, Backyard Football and Backyard Basketball. Also, check out the Ultimate Learning Software Suite which includes Math Master (for math skills), Songs to Get Along (for social and conversation skills), Fun with Feelings (for understanding emotions), Problem Solvers (for problem solving skills) and Sound Readers (for reading and comprehension skills). Just a reminder: the computers in the Children's Room and for children ages 3 through Grade 5 only.

Do you know how many toes an owl has or how many different types of owls there are worldwide? For answers to all of your owl questions, come to the program "Owls with the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary". This program will be held on Sat., March 24 at 11:00 AM, and is for Garden City residents ages 2 1/2 through Grade 5 and their families.

No tickets, registration or hoooo hoooing required.

Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
