Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem On March 8 , police re-arrested a 35-year-old man for the possession of GHB( Gamma Hydroxybutric Acid) after lab results for that substance came in positive, stemming from an incident where the man had allegedly taken vitamins at a vitamin sore at Old Country Rd. The charge is a C-felony... On March 2 , PO Jacobsen arrested a 24-year-old Dix Hills man for a defective plate, no registration, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd( 6 suspensions, 3 dates)... On the same day , 4 p.m., PO Jacobsen arrested a 22-year-old Uniondale man who allegedly almost hit a pedestrian with a baby stroller in a crosswalk at Franklin Ave./Seventh St. The motorist was arrested for a suspended license for DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd degree, the failure to yield to a pedestrian, unlicensed operation and for the possession of marijuana... On March 9 , a 65-year-old Hempstead man allegedly took a vacuum off a shelf and returned it for a $279 gift card at Sears. He was arrested and charged with that larceny and for 2 warrants from Hempstead and Nassau County... On March 10 , 4:30 AM, a 20-year-old New Hyde Park woman was allegedly DWI( .12%) at Stewart Ave./Franklin Ave. and she was arrested on that charge and for no insurance and for unsafe lane change... A 48-year-old Garden City man allegedly struck his wife's face in public and he was charged with harassment on March 10... A 25-year-old Valley Stream woman allegedly took a pair of Rayban sunglasses, a ring, Anne Klein shoes, and a Godiva bunny at Lord and Taylor on March 1... Police have found yet another way to stop underage drinking, when they recently issued an appearance ticket to the manager of the Rapture Ultra Lounge in Rockville Centre. It seems that the club had been soliciting on the Adelphi Campus, by advertising drinking specials. In addition, police contacted the Rockville Centre PD and they issued 15 tickets there; with one aggravated unlicensed operation on March 10... Fire Responses: There was an oil burner problem at a Bayberry Avenue residence on March 7... Paint from construction was the cause of an odor at Osborne Rd. on the same day... Speedidry was used to clean a spill after a car accident occurred on March 9... A transformer caused an odor at a Huntington Rd. house on March 9... A smoke machine triggered an alarm at Club Posh on March 11... A heating system malfunctioned at a Lincoln Street house on March 11... On the same day , a brush fire occurred at the railroad tracks near Seventh Street and 250 gallons of water put out the fire there... A hair straightener activated an alarm at Adelphi University on March 13... Excessive heat buildup in a computer room occurred at a Franklin Avenue business on March 14 and LIPA was called...That's all this week. G. T.
