GCHS National Merit Finalist

National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist Julianne Ungar with Garden City High School Principal Frank Banta.

Julianne Ungar, a senior at Garden City High School, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Ms. Ungar is a violinist, Advanced Placement Scholar, Peer AIDS Educator, reporter on the school newspaper, and member of the French and music honor societies. She has worked as a Candy Striper in the neonatal unit at Winthrop University Hospital and was member of the High School Kickline. She currently tutors violin and works 18 hours a week in retail sales. As a finalist, Ms. Ungar receives a Certificate of Merit and competes for one of some 8,00 scholarships to be awarded by the program this year.
