"Women & Heart Disease: What You Need To Know" Ladies, take action now - learn how you can protect yourself from heart disease. Winthrop-University Hospital's Women's Health Forum will offer a free lecture, "Women & Heart Disease" on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 7:00 PM. The program will be held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard, at the corner of Second Street in Mineola. Most women realize that heart disease is the leading killer of women. Unfortunately, many women don't take their risk for the disease personally, or realize that heart disease also can lead to disability and a significantly decreased quality of life. That's why it's important to learn the facts. George Gubernikoff, MD, Director of Clinical Cardiac Services and Medical Director of the Center for Aortic Diseases at Winthrop, will provide the latest information about blood pressure and cholesterol management, as well as diet and exercise, emphasizing lifestyle changes women can incorporate that can help them safeguard their quality of life. A question and answer period will follow the lecture. Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:45 PM and to park in the rear of the building. Seating is limited and reservations are required. To register, please call 1-888-53-WOMEN. The Women's Health Forum is a community health education program coordinated by Women's Health Services, part of Winthrop's Institute for Family Care. For information on other free community education programs offered at Winthrop, call 1-866-WINTHROP.
