On Sunday, March 25th, The TWIGS of Winthrop University Hospital will partner with Garden City Basketball for a fun-filled day of basketball clinics sponsored by John Skramko and hosted by Adelphi University's Athletic Department. The event will consist of 90 minute clinics for various age groups and guest speakers will provide valuable information for the participants. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and everyone will have the opportunity to win an exciting raffle prize!

Twigs, a fundraising group for Winthrop University Hospital, has been in existence since 1967. This is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to better the life of a child in the Pediatric Unit at Winthrop University Hospital. In the past four years, we have dedicated all of our fundraising efforts towards the In-patient Pediatric Wing and the Child Life Program at the hospital, which provides various forms of therapy such as art and music, for its patients.

Winthrop's Child Life Program focuses on helping children cope with the fear and anxiety of hospitalization. Certified Child Life Specialists utilize play and education to improve the understanding of medical procedures; teach relaxation techniques to help patients cope with illness or surgery, and provide emotional support for the entire family.

We are hoping you can be a sponsor for $250.00 and have your family or company name printed on the back of the T-shirts that will be given away that day! Your sponsorship will help pay for refreshments, raffle prizes and t-shirts! Sponsorships have to be received by March 12th for T-shirt printing; however a formal thank you will be printed in the Garden City News with all names listed.
