Pastel Workshop Offered

"By The Sea,"by Arleen Rueth Urban, PSA
The Garden City Community Club offers numerous opportunities for everyone interested in art, music and cultural activities. By popular demand, they will once again be offering a pastel workshop.

On March 12, a six-week workshop with Arleen Rueth Urban, PSA will commence at the Garden City Casino from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Explore the unlimited possibilities of pastel painting of any subject. From portraiture, landscapes or florals, she will guide you step by step, whether you are a beginner or an advanced painter.

A long-time resident of Garden City, Urban is well known in town for her commissioned pastel portraits of families and homes, and her many art classes that have taught students how to combine learning with fun. A winner of numerous awards and a devoted teacher for many years, her paintings are in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States, including a portrait commission of Barbara Walters, and a pastel painting of Elvis Presley with permanently hangs in Graceland.

Every year students are invited to participate in the annual "Rembrats" Exhibition at the Garden City Library as well as the Spring Exhibition at the Community Club. Pictured here are some of the works of her students at their show this past January, and a portrait she painted.
