Garden City Community Theater will soon be presenting another original musical. The eleven-year-old theater company will open its newest show, Americana on March 16, executive produced by Brad and Ruby Gustavson. This unique play, written by Guy R. Milone, Jr., centers around the timeless theme of teenagers' relationships with their parents. Its three acts take place in three separate years, 1956, 1968 and 1985 and feature three different plots, connected only by the theme. The music of Americana features some Broadway favorites, including Bye-Bye Birdie, Hair and Godspell as well as popular artists such as The Beatles, Billy Joel and Madonna. These songs feature arrangements by Marilyn Varriale with Musical Director Kim Oler and choreography by Donna Rotella. The three distinct eras were each created by their own directing team: Andy and Nancy Morreale (1956), John and Cathryn Mezzo (1968), and Guy and Christina Milone (1985). The play will take place in Gardner Hall at the Garden City Community Church on Friday March 16 at 8:00, Saturday March 17 at 7:00 and Sunday March 18 at 3:00.
