Community Club To Present Lecture On WPA Murals
Natalie Naylor was on the faculty of Hofstra University for more than thirty years where she taught Long Island History and other courses in American social history. She was director of the Long Island Studies Institute at Hofstra from when it was founded in 1985 until she retired in 2000. Professor Naylor had responsibility for institute conferences and publication and has edited and co-edited several of the institute publications including "Nassau County: From Rural Hinterland to Suburban Metropolis (2000); and "Journeys on Old Long Island" (2002). Dr. Naylor is also vice-president of the Nassau County Historical Society and has been editor of its annual journal since 1991. We hope you will join us on March 7th to meet Dr. Naylor as we learn the history behind these very special and largely forgotten works of art specifically created for display in public buildings during the 1930's. To learn more about the Community Club and its variety of interesting and informative programs, trips and fine arts classes and how you may become a member please call our office at 516 746-0488 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
