Historical Society Membership Drive Underway The Garden City Historical Society recently began its 2007 Membership Drive, one of the Society's most important sources of revenue. In 2006, we celebrated our first full year of operations at The Garden City Historical Society Museum on Eleventh Street, and we continue our endeavor to create the premier historical society museum on Long Island. Therefore, we kindly request that residents, businesses, professionals and organizations renew their memberships or become members of the Society. Last year, the Society held three lectures, including one by former Panama Canal Commission Chairman Robert McMillan, presented our first annual Children's Art Initiative in the spring and a professional art show, "Garden City in Art: A Mixed Media Exhibit," in the fall. We hosted a Cub Scout troop and another historical society for short tours. Finally, we presented our first annual A.T. Stewart Awards in December to a residential and non-residential property owner for their outstanding preservation work and conformity to the historic nature of our Village. While preparing and presenting all of the above programs, we have continued to maintain and upgrade our Museum and grounds, expanded our archive collections and archiving equipment, added to our gift shop collection, and published our newsletter. The Society encourages you to attend one of our programs and enjoy the beautiful ambiance of our Museum. Historical Society membership dues are accepted in the following categories: Senior Citizen (per person), $10; Individual, $25; Family, $35; Business, Institution and Professional, $50; Sustaining, $50; Life membership, $350. Checks payable to The Garden City Historical Society may be sent to P.O. Box 179, Garden City, NY 11530-0179. All donations are tax deductible. For further information, visit our website Membership page: www.gardencityhistoricalsociety.org/Membership.htm. Please also stop in our virtual "Store" online and see our new gift items. Interested in volunteer opportunities, or donating or lending artifacts to the Historical Society Museum? Have a company matching funds policy? Please indicate your phone number and email address on your membership request and a Society representative will call you. See you at the Museum.
