BOARD OF TRUSTEES WORK SESSIONS

The Board of Trustees will be conducting work sessions to review the proposed 2007/08 Operating/Capital Budgets on Saturday, March 3rd at 8:30 a.m. and on Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 p.m. The March 3rd and 8th sessions are scheduled to be held in the Board Room at Village Hall.

VILLAGE ELECTION - TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2007

The annual Village election will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 from 12 Noon until 9:00 p.m. at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. Village residents will be voting for the following candidates:

Peter A. BeeMayor - 2 year term

Gerard P. LundquistTrustee - 2 year term

Robert J. RothschildTrustee - 2 year term

Thomas M. LambertiTrustee - 2 year term

Nicholas P. EpiscopiaTrustee - 1 year term

Since the incorporation of the Village in 1919, members of the Board of Trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement.

ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS

Absentee Ballot applications to be used in conjunction with the General Village Election on March 20, 2007, are available at the Village Hall, 351 Stewart Avenue. Applications must be received by the Village Clerk by March 13th if the ballot is to be mailed. For personal application, the deadline is March 19th.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE - MARCH 4

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Long Island, organized by the Irish-American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., will be held in Garden City on Sunday, March 4, 2007.

The parade will assemble at 12 noon in the parking field opposite Ninth Street and will step off at 1 p.m. proceeding north on Franklin Avenue. The parade route will be from Ninth Street, north on Franklin Avenue to Old Country Road, east on Old Country Road to County Seat Drive, south on County Seat Drive where the parade will disband. The reviewing stand will be on Old Country Road in front of the Nassau County Office Building.

REHABILITATION OF NEW HYDE PARK ROAD LIRR GRADE CROSSING

The Long Island Rail Road has programmed the complete rehabilitation of the New Hyde Park Road railroad grade crossing in Garden City from March 5 to March 16, 2007. The work involved will necessitate the complete closing of the railroad crossing in both directions and will require multiple days of road closures as detailed below:

New Hyde Park Road

$ On Tuesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 7, 2007, road closure will be required between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

$ On Thursday, March 7, 2007, road closure will be required between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

$ On Monday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 14, 2007, road closure will be required between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

$ On Thursday, March 15, 2007, road closure will be required between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Upon completion of the crossing panel installation, temporary paving material will be installed between the Long Island Rail Road crossing panels and the saw cut line of the roadway.

During the week of March 19, 2007, the approaches to New Hyde Park Road crossing will be repaved (weather permitting). This effort will be between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and a minimum of a single lane of traffic will be maintained for both directions.

The following are detour routes:

$ Southbound traffic - right on Stewart Avenue, left on Covert Avenue, left on Rail Road Avenue, right on New Hyde Park Road.

$ Northbound traffic - left on Rail Road Avenue, right on Covert Avenue, right on Stewart Avenue, left on New Hyde Park Road
