News From The Children's Room Is your child a budding Picasso or Van Gogh? Would your child like to learn how to draw? If you answered YES to these questions, then you want to sign your child up for the program "Cartooning Made Easy with Ed Klein". This program is for Garden City residents in Grades K-5 and will be held on Sat., March 3. The time schedule is as follows: Grades K-2 at 1:30 PM and Grades 3-5 at 2:30 PM. Registration begins February 24 at 9:00 AM in the Children's Room. Dancing with the Stars? How about dancing with Garden City toddlers? If you and your toddler love to dance, sign up for the program "Toddler Tango with Nancy Bugge". The program is for Garden City residents ages 2 1/2-5 (No Kindergarten), with an adult. This program will be held on Sat., March 10. Pick one time slot, 9:30 AM or 10:30 AM. It's not too late to register for story time. Please check with a librarian for availability. You can still register for book discussions. Just come to the Children's Room. Chapter Chat, for children presently enrolled in Second Grade. Program is forty-five minutes. Wednesdays at 4:00 PM. Remaining sessions are: February 28 [rescheduled from February 14] ("Stanley in Space", by Jeff Brown and March 14 ("Jenius The Amazing Guinea Pig", by Dick King-Smith). New Friends in Books Club, for children presently enrolled in Third Grade. Program is forty-five minutes. Wednesdays at 5:00 PM. The remaining sessions: February 28 ("Akimbo and the Elephants" by Alexander McCall-Smith), and March 14 ("Bunnicula A Rabbit Tale of Mystery", by James Howe). The Page Turners, for children presently enrolled in Fourth and Fifth Grade: Remaining session: March 13 Book Discussion, "How to Eat Fried Worms" by Thomas Rockwell, watch worms at work and create an interesting snack. Registration began February 12. Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
