Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On February 9 , a 50-year-old Baldwin woman allegedly shoplifted 2 pairs of Danskin pants, a black jacket and top, a Kenneth Cole Reaction top, and D&G perfume as well as Valentino perfume, at Lord and Taylor. The woman allegedly concealed the items in the fitting room and then left the store... On February 14 , between 12:20 PM and 12:25 PM, a member of the GC Recreation Department noticed that 2 men were placing a soccer goal in their van at the St. Paul's School and he asked them to stop what they were doing, which they did. They fled from the scene and were later apprehended by PO Reilly at Nassau Blvd./Stewart Avenue, and charged with grand larceny for attempting to steal the $1950 in equipment... Someone stole a $300 Louis Vuitton wallet containing $1000-$2000 at the Grand Salon, GC Hotel, on February 17 between 1:30 and 4:30 PM... An Adelphi student who was studying at Swirlbul Library reported being harassed by a library employee there on February 17, at 2:50 PM. The 27-year-old man allegedly went under the table where she studied and placed himself at her feet before she jumped from her chair to study elsewhere. He was arrested on harassment charges... Between February 18 and 19, someone stole a $900 laptop computer from the conference room at a Franklin Avenue business... On February 18 , police arrested a 22-year-old Centreville, VA man for alleged DWI(.12%) on Clinton Rd... On February 19 , around noon, someone entered an office, which was empty due to the holiday, and stole $300 from a cabinet drawer at 200 GC Plaza...

A resident at Nassau Blvd. extinguished a fire prior to FD arrival on February 14. An oven had been heating the room and food residue had ignited... Steam from a shower set off an alarm at Hawthorne Rd. on February 14... Firemen shut off a boiler at Eleventh St. on the same day... An elderly man accidentally pulled an alarm box at the GC RR station on February 16... Firefighters assisted a Stewart Avenue resident with heavy icing on the property there, on February 16... Dryers at Earle Hall, Adelphi University, were found to need servicing on February 17... Electric to a boiler was shut off at Vassar Street on February 18... There was a broken water pipe that caused water in a basement at College Place on February 18... A sprinkler pipe broke at the Wyndham Condominiums on February 20...That's all this week.
