Garden City Senior News trip to the philadelphia flower show The Recreation Department will sponsor a trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show through Prime Time Travel on Wednesday, March 7th. Prime Time Travel will pick our group up in the morning from Lord & Taylor's parking lot. We will travel to Philadelphia and spend the rest of the morning and afternoon visiting the various sights and displays at this amazing event. Lunch is "on your own." The cost of this trip is $66 and seating is limited. To reserve a seat on this trip, please visit the Recreation Department in Village Hall. Payment must accompany reservations. Please make all checks payable to "Prime Time Travel." For further information, please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075. trip to ny historical society and lunch Come join the Recreation Department on March 22 for a Prime Time Travel trip to visit one of New York's most interesting places. We will leave in the morning and first have lunch at the famed Tavern on the Green in beautiful Central Park. After lunch we will travel uptown for a guided tour of one of the city's best kept secrets, the New York Historical Society Museum. The museum's collection of memorabilia and art dates will show you things from the past through today. Transportation will be by coach bus. The cost of the trip will be $87. Space is limited to 25 people. To register for this trip, please visit the Recreation Department in Village Hall as soon as possible. Payment must be made in full at the time of registration. Weekly Schedule for the senior center Here is the schedule of events for the next two weeks at the Recreation Department's New Senior Center in the cottage at St. Paul's: Monday, February 19 - Recreation Center Closed for President's Day Tuesday, February 20 - Board games from 11 to 1 p.m. Challenge our staff to a game or set up your own, we have many games to choose from. Wednesday, February 21 - Brown Bag Social - Bring a brown bag lunch at noon and enjoy the company. Thursday, February 22 - Walking group at 11 a.m. Weather permitting, group meets and then walks the grounds of St. Paul's, then retires to the Senior Center to eat brown bag lunches. Create!!! - Come to the Senior Center at 1 p.m. and help create projects that are then donated to hospitalized children. Volunteer Opportunities For Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - the Bridge between those who want to give and those who need assistance. If you are 55 or older and would like a meaningful volunteer experience, RSVP is looking for you! With nearly 100 different volunteer opportunities available at government and non-profit organizations in Nassau County, we will help you find the experience that suits your talents. If you are age 60 and older, you may be eligible to receive a non-reportable stipend, transportation reimbursement, paid holidays, sick days, and vacation days. There are immediate placements available in the Senior Community Service Employment Program which is available through the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs. Garden City Retired Mens Club The Garden City Retired Men's Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City Community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political. All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the State of New York, are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/tables and board games, as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard.
