Doherty-Dike Engagement

Christopher Doherty and Chakira-Iliana Dike.

Mr. and Mrs. William Doherty of Garden City, New York are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Christopher John to Chakira-Iliana Dike, daughter of Joseph and Charlyce Dike of Medford, New York. Christopher attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, earning a B.S. in Music Education in 2000 and a M.A. in Wind Conducting in 2003. He is currently the Band Director at Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, and associate Conductor of the Hofstra University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, as well as active freelance performing musician on Long Island and New York City.

Chakira attended Elon University in North Carolina, graduating with a B.F.A. in Musical Theater and a minor in choreography. She is currently a Sales Partner for American Brokers Conduit on Long Island as well as maintaining an active career in Long Island Theater.

An October wedding is planned.
