Upcoming Music Events At Adelphi Adelphi University is pleased to offer an array of free music concerts featuring outstanding student performers and guest artists. All events are held in Adelphi University's Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, in February 2007. Musical Theatre in Concert Michael Hume, Director Sunday, February 18, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Adelphi University distinguished faculty member Michael Hume presents staged scenes from the Broadway stage featuring student singers from the music and theatre departments. Trio Solisti: Romantic Eastern Europe Maria Bachmann, Violin Alexis Pia-Gerlach, Cello Jon Klibonoff, Piano Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Trio Solisti, Adelphi University's ensemble-in-residence, returns with a sparkling program of music by Janacek, Smetana and Dvorak, including the famed Dumky Trio. Trio Solisti have performed throughout the United States and in 23 countries around the globe. All three members have been frequent guests of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and have collaborated on performances with some of the finest musicians in the world. A pre-concert lecture will be held at 7:00 p.m. Distinguished Faculty Concerts Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. After recent worldwide performances of Steve Reich's The Cave, distinguished member of Adelphi's vocal faculty and tenor singer Jonathan Goodman will perform the richly hued song cycle On Wenlock Edge by Ralph Vaughan Williams with members of the Forte String Quartet and Christopher Lyndon-Gee on piano. The evening's program will also include performances by cello professor Kalin Ivanov, violin professor Oleksand'r Abayev, piano faculty members Adrienne Borbely and Marilyn Lehmann, and faculty member and flutist Linda Wetherill.
