Fifth Grade Students Receive Bibles At Resurrection

Fifth grade students at Resurrection Lutheran Church receive Bibles from their parents and the church.
Giving bibles to students has been a long-time tradition of Resurrection. It is an opportunity for parents to fulfill a part of the vow they made when their child was baptized; "[parents are to] place in their [child's] hands the Holy Scriptures..."

Students and parents meet before the worship service to talk about how to use the Bible, where it came from, and what the Bible talks about. The word "bible" means books. It is a collection of books that talk about God's relationship with people, from the beginning of time to the present. The Holy Bible has one central figure, the person of Jesus Christ, and tells His story of love for all people and His sacrifice on their behalf.

The entire fifth grade class at Resurrection received these Bibles as a gift from their parents and the congregation, with a promise to continue to teach them God's word, and help them grow in faith and service to God and their community.

Resurrection-Garden City is a Christian community of faith located at 420 Stewart Avenue. All are invited to worship at 5:30 PM on Saturdays and at 8:30 and 11 AM Sunday mornings, with Christian Education at 9:45 AM.
