Students Take Aim Against AIDS

Peer AIDS Educator Marissa Dioguardi (right), a junior at Garden City High School, and Social Worker and Advisor Lori Kuster sold baked goods at the AIDS Education Bake Sale in November as one of the many activities held in observance of "World AIDS Day." The students raised $200 that was donated to the Long Island AIDS Coalition, among others. Peer HIV/AIDS Educators also recently sponsored a toy drive for children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS, hung educational posters that they had made around the High School, and brought in speakers to assemblies to talk about the illness, its impact, and how it can be prevented.
