Library Donates Books To Operation Wounded Warrior

The Garden City Library donated several hundred books to Operation Wounded Warrior this past holiday season. The gently used books were packed and sent along with donations collected by the Garden City Fire Department and other area fire departments. These donations were hand delivered to wounded troops at the Bethesda Naval Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Operation Wounded Warrior was a project that was initiated by the Stewart Manor Volunteer Fire Department to bring holiday cheer to the soldiers who were wounded defending the country overseas. The boxes of books that were sent by the Garden City Library were greatly appreciated by our troops.
