Hospital Appoints New Chief Of Neurosurgery Peter Hollis, MD, a respected neurosurgeon with roots at Franklin Hospital, has been named the new chief of neurosurgery. The appointment comes on the heels of the creation of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Health System Harvey Cushing Institutes of Neuroscience, a major initiative with 12 centers of excellence planned in both neurology and neurosurgery. Franklin Hospital will be an integral part of this program and the system's effort to become a worldwide destination for patients with brain and spinal disorders. "In the last few years, the improvements at Franklin have been dramatic, from the physical plant to the efficiency and expertise of the staff," said Dr. Hollis, who first practiced at Franklin more than 20 years ago.
