Rothschild Seeks Reelection As Estates Trustee
Submitted by The Committee to Re-Elect Trustee Rothschild

Trustee Robert Rothschild has announced that he will seek reelection to the Garden City Village Board of Trustees representing the Estates Section. He has served on the board in that capacity for the past four years.

In making his decision to seek reelection, Rob observed that the Board of Trustees is currently grappling with a number of complex issues that will affect the future character of the village and our way of life here. As a long-time Garden City resident with significant direct involvement in the Village Board, the Estates Property Owners Association, and numerous community organizations, Rob believes he has the knowledge and experience needed to help the village find solutions to these critical issues. The vote on the trustee nomination is scheduled for January 30, 2007 at the Garden City High School. All residents of the Estates Section who are eighteen years of age or older, are eligible to participate.

Rob moved to Garden City in 1983, and has lived in the Estates Section since 1986. During that time, he has been an active and contributing member of the community. He is a current director of the Men's Association of the Garden City High School, and he was a co-director of the Pre-Cana program at St. Joseph's Parish for more than ten years.

His involvement with the Estates POA dates back to the early 1990s. Serving first as a member of the Fifteen Member Nominating Committee, Rob went on to become a director, Vice President and, finally, President of the POA. His experience with the POA provided him the opportunity to obtain a first-hand understanding of our form of village government before being elected a trustee.

As a member of the Village Board of Trustees since 2003, Rob has been Chairman of the Traffic Commission, Chairman of the Environmental Advisory Board, and Trustee Liaison to the Recreation and Planning Commissions, the Architectural Design Review Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Police Department, and the Chamber of Commerce. As Chair of the Public Information Committee, he oversaw development of the recent "Village Facts" newsletter that reviewed the status of St. Paul's and options available for the property. He also assisted in defeating the Roosevelt Field expansion, which would have adversely affected Garden City with traffic and environmental concerns.

Rob is the Senior Vice President in charge of Real Estate Lending for Signature Bank. He is a graduate of St. John's University where he earned both B. S. and M. B. A. degrees. He and his wife Valerie have two daughters, Claudia and Claire, who both attended Garden City public schools.
