WPOA Nominates Lundquist For Reelection As Trustee Gerard P. Lundquist, the current Mayor of the Village, been selected by the Western Property Owners Association's (WPOA) Nominating Committee for the position of Village Trustee from the Western Section for the term beginning in April 2007. A member of the Board of Trustees since April 1999, Lundquist is currently serving in his fourth term as a Village Trustee. He has been instrumental in building support among neighboring Village officials, especially Mineola, Stewart Manor, Floral Park and Westbury, as well as members of the Nassau County Village Officials Association, and focusing attention on common issues that affect these communities. He has reached out to local, state and federal representatives and made them aware of the Villages' concerns and opinions. Prior to his tenure as Trustee, Lundquist served the Western Property Owners Association in several capacities: Director, Vice President and President. As President, he chaired the Village's Joint Conference Committee, consisting of members from each of the Property Owners Associations. Lundquist served on the Board of Directors of the Water Authority of Western Nassau from 1996 through 2002 and was instrumental in the early stages of the transition of Jamaica Water to the Water Authority of Western Nassau, which resulted in significant savings to residents of Garden City who are served by the Authority. Lundquist has been employed by KeySpan Energy since 1977 and is currently an Operations Manager. He has had assignments throughout the New York region, including Director of Construction, Long Island, and Director of Field Operations, Long Island. His responsibilities include ensuring the safety, security and reliability of the natural gas distribution system. Prior assignments have included Project Manager for the JFK Airport Cogeneration Facility and the Stony Brook Cogeneration Facility. He is on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Gas Distribution Council consisting of utilities throughout the region. Lundquist earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Master of Business Administration from Adelphi University, and a Master of Science in Economics and Finance from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He is a New York State Registered Professional Engineer. Residents of Garden City since 1989, Lundquist and his wife Mildred, an elementary school teacher, have three children, all of whom attended Garden City Public Schools. Matthew is a graduate of Cornell University and Stony Brook Medical School and is currently an Intern at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
