He received his BA degree cum laude from Fordham College and his law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a veteran of the Korean War having served two years as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. As Trustee, Tom has been Fire Commissioner, Commissioner of Public Works, a member of the Traffic Commission and liaison Trustee to the Library and School Board. He is also a member of the St. Paul's sub-committee which is currently reviewing proposals to preserve the Historic Building. Tom was an attorney for the Village from 1957 to 1995, Counsel to the School District from 1968 to 1995 and a Director of the CPOA from 1998 to 2005. He was a member of the Ad-Hoc Citizens' Advisory Committee for the $38,000,000 Bond Issue adopted in 1998 to renovate and repair our Schools. For this service he was honored by the Chamber of Commerce on May 1, 1999 as one of the Citizens of the Year. Tom is a 42 year resident of Garden City and resides at 57 First Street with his wife Eileen and their son Tom Jr. Eileen taught in the Garden City School District for over 20 years. Tom Jr. attended the public schools and is presently a junior at McGill University in Montreal. Tom's 103 year old mother resides in the Village at her home on Adams Street. When asked for a statement Tom said "I regard my service as Trustee as a high honor and privilege. Over the past two years I was pleased to help solve issues that were important to our residents. The proposed Assisted Living Facility on the Cathedral grounds is no longer before us. The Diocese has decided to pursue another use for the Cathedral House and we have amended our Zoning law to permit Assisted Living in apartment house districts rather than single-family residence districts. The Board has agreed with my proposal to disapprove a fence around St. Paul's playing fields and consider a natural barrier. I will continue to work for a garden at St. Paul's with benches, which is needed, particularly, for our apartment house residents. There are many difficult matters ahead; St Paul's, the proposed light rail system through the heart of the Village, the development of the P-Zone (Nassau County Social Services building) and the Roosevelt Field property. On these issues I will work with dedication, with the other Trustees, to preserve for future generations our heritage that we cherish." The following members of the CPOA Nominating Committee brought forth Thomas M. Lamberti as candidate for Village Trustee: Tom Simpson, Chairperson, H. Arthur Anderson, Vice Chairperson, and committee members Kathleen Galgano, Patrick W. Kelly, Joseph J. Ortego, Steven Ruoff and Steven P. Vincent.
