Scouts from Cub Pack 55 enjoyed their own, real-life "Night at the Museum". On Saturday, November 18, the scouts slept under the Big Blue Whale in the Millstein Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
The evening began with exploration of the museum after it was closed to the public. The scouts toured a special showing of the Reptiles Alive exhibit, featuring many live varieties of snakes and lizards. The highlight of the evening was a "flashlight tour" of the Dinosaur Halls, complete with a paleontology-based scavenger hunt. Next the boys enjoyed "Cosmic Collisions" at the Hayden Planetarium. The boys were taught how to make origami whales and dinosaurs in the main lobby, near the Teddy Roosevelt exhibit and then enjoyed the bedtime story "A Night at the Museum" read by the head security guard. Finally, all drifted off to sleep under the Big Blue Whale to the soothing ocean sounds.
We're happy to report that none of the exhibits escaped from the museum on our watch!!!
