      The regular monthly meeting of the Garden City Schools Board of Education will be held Monday, December 17 at 8:15 p.m. in the library of Garden City High School, 170 Rockaway Avenue.

Christmas Card Design Winner
      Nicholas Dimmling, a Garden City 7th Grader, has been named as one of four winners in a Christmas card design contest to benefit Tuesday's Children. Nick's card featured a red poinsettia plant surrounded by green ribbons. Tuesdays Children is a non-profit service organization formed by 9/11 families and friends.

Exploring Career Paths At GC Middle School
      It's never too early to start preparing for that first job interview, and that's just what seventh-graders at Garden City Middle School did this fall as part of the Middle School's Home and Careers curriculum. In a massive role playing exercise, parents and staff conducted mock job interviews with more than 200 students.

Salem Justice Presented To Middle School 7th-Graders
      Events that unfolded in 1692 had seventh-graders at Garden City Middle School on the edge of their seats this fall, as the ArtsPower National Touring Theater presented Salem Justice, an original play about a 17th century family coping with the infamous witch trials that occurred in Salem, Massachusetts, more than 300 years ago.

Key/Interact Club Holiday Drives
      The Garden City High School Key/Interact Club is busy working on several holiday drives. We are presently collecting canned and packaged foods for the Food Pantry in Roosevelt, N.Y., gently used clothing for the Rescue Mission in NYC, and New Stuffed Animals for children hospitalized during the holidays.

GCHS Cheerleaders Place In Competitions
      Garden City High School's Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleading squads had outstanding showings at recent cheer competitions. The GCHS Varsity squad placed third at a competition on December 2 at Valley Stream North High School, and the JV squad garnered fourth place honors at the Long Island Cheerleading Coaches Association competition at Mt. Sinai High School on December 9.
