A hapy Blazers Team looking forward to a FIERCE Spring Season!A hapy Blazers Team looking forward to a FIERCE Spring Season! To true fans of soccer, a nil-nil draw is an exciting game, and the U-12 Blazers delivered plenty of excitement on November 17, in their last game of the fall season.

In the first half, defenders Reed Bonvissuto, Aidan Logan and Luke Zeccola were relentless in protecting goal keeper Patrick Mohan, who successfully snatched up any shot that threatened the Garden City goal. Defensive mid-fielder Brian Bingham was taken out of action by an opponent on one of Luke Zeccola's corner kicks, but came back strong in the second half. Joey Burdi, center midfield, headed one of Luke Zeccola's magnificent corner kicks onto the crossbar, for a near goal that had the sidelines gasping.

There was also some comic relief in the first half, when music started blaring from a backyard on Hampton Road, and the bench went into a rally dance, led by halfback Drew Pascale. Offensive efforts by Chris Hourmouzis and Drew Pascale late in the half were valiant, but the half ended scoreless.

In the second half, the team switched to the "Four Joes" strategy, with Joe Giarraputo and Joey Trapasso on defense, and Joe Torres and Joey Burdi on offense. Zach Miner went into goal and bravely defended the net, with continued strong defense by Brendan Harney, Jonathan Castoro and, once again, Luke Zeccola.

Justin Gong delivered his always superb offense in both halves. Matt Kelly and Chris Stumpf both provided heart stopping drives to the Syosset box, keeping the fans up and shouting. Striker Brian Tully didn't make the game, but deserves mention for his fine offensive performance throughout the season. He was missed by the team.

When the final whistle blew, the game was scoreless, but the Blazers finished strong and closed the fall season with a winning record. The boys are already looking forward to the spring schedule, and more glory.
