The Scouts spent the day Saturday exploring the Sub Base in Groton. There was much to be learned about WW 2 history and how a Sub operates as they checked out a real submarine from the era and the historical museum. Later the Troop set up tents and got a campfire going to take off the chill from the rainy weather. They cooked Turkey in a trashcan, and all the fixings for a pre-Thanksgiving feast. Each patrol fixed a side dish on the campfire while the turkey roasted in a real but clean trash can. The Scouts spent the next day in Mystic, seeing the Revolutionary era ships and village. The forests and sites of Connecticut made a wet and windy weekend memorable for Troop 55 Scouts.
