      The Class of 1957 from Garden City High School held its 50 th Reunion on the weekend of October 20 th . Many events took place. There were village bus tours, given by John Kordes, the village historian. Friday night there was a reception at the Senior Men's Club.

Troop 55 Visits Groton Sub-Base
      Troop 55 spent a weekend camping in Connecticut in November. The Scouts spent the day Saturday exploring the Sub Base in Groton. There was much to be learned about WW 2 history and how a Sub operates as they checked out a real submarine from the era and the historical museum. Later the Troop set up tents and got a campfire going to take off the chill from the rainy weather.

      We are at the point where we don't know whom to believe. On the television they report great crowds of people, not only on Thanksgiving morning, but on what they now call Black Friday at the stores. That may well be true in the city and in other places, but I have had reports that Roosevelt Field was not crowded until after 3 p.m. and then not that badly.

DiAngelo And Kendrick Take Seniors Bocci Title
      The Retired Men's bocci title went to the team of DiAngelo and Kendrick. The team took 2 of three games by scores of 13-2, 10-13 and 13-4. Nick Basile and Ed Palkot were the second place finishers. Frank DiAngelo used a lofting type of bowl which was very accurate on the cow-track ridden court. Ed Palkot led his team bring them from behind a number of times.

      Local resident Lana Noone recently received a Humanitarian Award from the African-American Cultural Council of Virginia in recognition for her work as a Vietnam "Operation Babylift" Living Historian and Archivist. Casino Night Hits The Jackpot
      The Garden City Nursery School hosted its first annual Casino Night at the Stewart Manor Country Club on October 26. Two Texas Hold'em poker tournaments and tables for black jack, craps and roulette kept the funny money flowing all night long. It was a great evening out for all who attended. The event proved to be a very successful fundraiser for the school.
