GC Centennial Soccer. Congratulations to the North Carolina team coached by Silvio Pironi for winning the GC Centennial Soccer Division IV championship this fall. The team went undefeated during the regular season and beat a tough Georgetown team 1 - 0 in the championship game. More ... On Sunday, November 18th, the GC Rec. Hockey Staff hosted their End of the Season Pizza Party & Awards Ceremony over at Cluett Hall at St. Pauls. The kids were treated to an afternoon of pizza, awards and special raffles. All of the kids were also presented with medals for their participation in this season. More ... After a hard fought 1-1 tie with the Massapequa Breakers, the Girls U11 POWER celebrated the end of their Fall Soccer season this past Saturday with a post game party at Grimaldi's. More ... The Garden City U15 Fireballs captured the Division 2 championship this Fall season with a record of 6 wins, 2 ties and a loss for 20 points. The Bule Jackets came out and would get the board first shot of the game. More ... The GC Warriors faced an evenly matched Glen Cove in their last game of the season. Both teams had numerous scoring opportunities, but Glen Cove was able to close on 2 of their shots versus GC's one goal. The boys improved their skills this fall playing in a challenging division, and look forward to practicing throughout the winter in anticipation of the spring season. More ... Last Saturday the Xtreme traveled to Soccer Park in Plainview to battle the Levittown Panthers. The Xtreme were looking to win their third match in a row. The Panthers were known for having lots of offensive fire power. Although both teams had multiple scoring chances, the Panthers capitalized on more of theirs and won the match 5-1. More ... The fall season for the GC Daredevils U13 team was a rollercoaster ride of exciting, challenging and, at times, frustrating soccer which concluded this past weekend with a 1-0 win against Smithtown, which put them solidly in third place.They had to fight for the win every minute, against an offensively aggressive team. More ... When the 2007 football season began, virtually all the "experts" declared that it would be Lawrence's year. The Golden Tornadoes were returning the nucleus of their Long Island Championship squad that had beaten highly-regarded Bellport. They had experience, size, speed and good coaching. More ... The Girls Varsity Swim Team led by co-captains Jenna Daly and Erica Derlath along with teammates Sarah Schlichte and Megan Zarriello finished 4th out of 130 participating high school teams with 163 points at the New York State High School Swimming Championships. This meet was held on November 16th and 17th at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. More ... The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting children's swimming lessons for Village residents at the Adelphi University Swimming Pool in Woodruff Hall on Saturday mornings. Your child must be six years of age by the start of the program to participate. The classes will begin Saturday, December 1, 2007. Classes are taught by Red Cross Certified Instructors.
