Bethann Rooney and William Ellis are to Speak at the Garden City Community Church on "Improving the Capacity and Security of the Port of New York & New Jersey"

At 9:15 a.m. on Sunday November 25, 2007, William El Ellis and Bethann Rooney will speak at the Garden City Community Church Forum Series about Port Security and plans for the future development of the Port of New York & New Jersey. This is a unique opportunity to hear about the safety and operation of the Port of New York from the real experts.

Bethann Rooney is the Manager of Port Security for the Port Authority. Beth works with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies as well as legislative and regulatory agencies. She is Chair of the Area Maritime Security Committee for the Port of New York & New Jersey, and has often been called upon to testify before Congress. Along with degrees in Marine and Interna-tional Transportation, Beth is also qualified as a Third Mate.

Bill Ellis has been with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for thirty-five years, and is currently the Assistant Director, Port Planning & Development in the Port Commerce Department of the Port Authority, overseeing planning and redevelopment. Bill has degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration and has received a certification as a Professional Port Manager.

The Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ and is an Open & Affirming congregation.
