New Organ Recital Series
The Cathedral of the Incarnation, is excited to present a new Sunday afternoon organ recital series for the 2007-2008 season, beginning on Sunday, October 28th at 4 p.m. Over the past year, a considerable amount of work has been done on the 1986 Casavant pipe organ, the largest pipe organ on Long Island. The fanfare trumpet has been brought back to life, the wiring has been safeguarded from lightening and an updated system of electronics has been introduced to allow organists more flexibility in using the wide variety of tone colors of the organ. Five Sunday afternoon recitals will display young talent from the School of Music at Yale University.
For the opening recital the Cathedral is pleased to present Christian Lane. He has performed throughout the United States and in Europe and is currently pursuing his Master's degree at Yale where he studies with Thomas Murray. Noted for his "driving energy and mature interpretation (The American Organist)," Chris is the first-prize winner of four national organ competitions and he recently served as Assistant Organist of Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, New York. His recital will include works by Litaize, Jongen and Duruflé. Suggested donation: $10 general seating, $5 seniors, students and children admitted free. The Cathedral of the Incarnation is situated on Cathedral Avenue at Fifth Street. For more information, call (516) 746-2955
