Historical Society Art Exhibit In November
      The Garden City Historical Society is proud to announce the dates of its second annual art show, Garden City in Art: A Mixed Media Exhibit. Featuring eleven local artists, the exhibit takes place at The Garden City Historical Society Museum, 109 Eleventh Street, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 2, 3 and 4 and November 9, 10 and 11. Kordes Publishes New Edition Of "Visions of Garden City"
      Village Historian John Ellis Kordes has published a new expanded edition of his popular book "Visions of Garden City." The original book sold out in less than two years and is now out of print. This second edition features much of what was in the original book with one major addition.

      Saturday, November 3, is the date slated for a Christmas Mission Boutique to be held at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 420 Stewart Ave, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Over thirty years ago, a church member, Shirley Holmes, began preparations for a boutique that would benefit the many missions Resurrection supports. With 112 of its 238 graduates signed on to come back this reunion has the makings of being something special. The Class of 57 was an outstanding group academically, athletically and socially.

Rose Innes, a parishioner of Saint Joseph parish, was nominated to receive the medal by pastor, Father Joseph M. Schlafer, for generously and unselfishly giving of herself to the parish.

The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead has had a Literary Series for its members for many years and so has the Garden City Branch of A.A.U.W. The Community church is also presenting a Book Reading series and so have several other groups.

      On Thursday, October 25, Andrew Schrafel will speak about his "Chinese Experience" to the Thursday Luncheon Group of the Garden City Community Church. He spent last year in Beijing where he received his LLM (Masters in Chinese Law) at Tsing Hua University. Andrew received an undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytech and followed that with a law degree from Albany Law School.
