The defense sacks the quarterback!
The defense sacks the quarterback! The GC Thunder White 7's won their third consecutive game last Sunday against the Franklin Square Warriors. The team dominated both sides of play, with the defense operating as a smoothly coordinated machine, consistently limiting the Warriors to minimal yardage, and the Thunder offense efficiently cutting holes though the Franklin Square line for four touchdowns. Thunder took the game 25-7 for their second road victory, putting them at 3-1 for the season.

The Thunder defense made a clear and convincing opening statement that this wasn't going to be a fun day for Franklin Square. Although they attempted several well-reasoned offensive maneuvers, the Warriors typically found themselves quickly encircled by a white wall of Thunder defenders. Sean Rode, Tommy Poole, Liam Joyce and Kevin Tierney were frequent members of the group hug offered to the Franklin Square runners. On the few occasions when Warrior runners moved past the line, they were quickly met with crunching tackles by Thunder roving guardsman, including Aidan Byrnes, Luke Connelly, and Liam Curtin. Sunday's game also featured the breakout play of defenseman, Casey Noonan, who intimidated the Warrior offense on several plays with his speedy and powerful takedowns that had the sidelines cheering.

Thunder touchdown!
Thunder touchdown! As usual, the Thunder offense got to work early, with Michael "the wheels are workin'" Handal blowing past the Warriors stunned defensive for a 40yd touchdown run on Garden City's first play. On the second drive, QB Tyler Wuchte advanced the ball for 30 yards on sweep left that caught the Warriors off guard. The Garden City coaches then unleashed the Thunder's talented running backs, who produced an offensive flurry that bewildered the Franklin Square defenders throughout the rest of the game. Luke Connelly, Liam Muldoon and Aidan Byrnes each scored touchdowns, while Michael Handal and Liam Curtin registered strong runs as well. Chris Mischel, who turned 7 on game day, also ran for positive yardage and came within inches of securing an extra point. Offensive coordinators Jimmy Connelly and Vinny Muldoon commented, "it all came together for our offensive squad today, as each player executed his role perfectly and we consistently found the right holes in the opponent's defense."
