Danny Miller (with friends) on his way to the end zone Another beautiful autumn day and another impressive Thunder victory. The boys of autumn took over early with Danny Dolan bruising his way to the Elmont 40 with the opening kickoff. Before Elmont knew what hit them Danny Miller burst off tackle on a counter play for a 29 yard touchdown. Danny Dolan converted the extra point on a QB keeper to make the score 7 - 0 before the fans had time to settle into their seats.

The Thunder kept the pressure on with an onside kick that was recovered by Timmy Halaby at the Elmont 32. Jack Connors battered his way to the Elmont 19 on his first run from scrimmage but the drive stalled with a fumble on the next play.

The "No Surrender" defense asserted its will on their first series by holding Elmont to two yards and taking the ball back on downs. Timmy Halaby did his best impression of John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever" by dancing all over the field on a 16 yard touchdown run that probably covered 60 yards to put the Thunder up by 14 0.

The O line with Jack Reina, Mike Cassano, Zach Stamoulis, Brian Irwin, Scott Irwin, Brett Stewart, Matt Greene and Danny Simmons dictated the play throughout the game.

The Elmont offense could get nothing going against the "No Surrender" defense. The Cardinals heard the same sad song every series - "One Step Up and Two Steps Back" - with David Gage, Timmy Barbaro, Albert Soussis, Kyle Wein, Mike Cassano and Zach Stamoulis shutting down the middle and Jack Connors, Brett Stewart and Danny Miller taking away the outside and Matt Greene, Timmy Halaby, Danny Dolan, Connor Reidel, Anthony Kritis, Brian Irwin, Scott Irwin, Jack Reina, Tommy Reina, Danny Simmons and Richie Mattone caging any Cardinal that dared venture over the line of scrimmage.

The Thunder closed out the scoring late in the first half on an 11 yard hookup between Danny Dolan and Timmy Halaby for a TD and a pass from Double D to Scott Irwin for the extra point.

Both the "Born to Run - Thunder Road" offense and the "No Surrender" defense proved it all night that they were too talented, too varied and too multi-faceted for the Cardinals. Final Score: Thunder 33 - Elmont Cardinals 14.

These young men continue to progress. Every practice brings a new lesson and every game presents a new challenge. With 4 more games left in the regular season, the team and coaches know that with hard play the magic will also continue. GO THUNDER!
