Jillian Minda, Lily Shannon and Shelby Rivielle fight to keep possession of the ball. The Garden City Force was out with full strength this past weekend as they went up against the Plainedge Hot Shots. The Force had an amazing game, showing incredible team work with several great attempts on goal. The Hot Shots had two very skilled goalies who were successful at guarding their goal despite the many attempts made by the Force to score. Alicia Cristofora, Olivia Giarraputo, Alana Macleod, Catherine Honan and Shelby Rivelle exhibited a tremendous defensive effort by keeping the ball out of the Force's defensive zone preventing the Hot Shots from having an opportunity to score. Finally Lily Shannon's fancy footwork enabled her to find an opening and she went in with a beautiful controlled kick to score. Lily's quick pace and strength allowed the ball to pass the Hot Shot Goalie sending the ball into the goal.

Offensively the Force was strong. Jillian Minda's offensive play was sensational as she managed to control the ball each time the Hot Shots tried to take it away. Throughout the game Gabrielle Marcoux, Annie Walsh, Janine Schwendemann, and Madeline McCabe displayed fast speed and good ball control, which allowed them at times to take the ball from mid field and make several shots on goal.

Late in the second half, the Hot Shots tied the game at one. The Force held it together continuing to defend their goal and showing tremendous offensive effort. With a few minutes left, Annie Randazzo used her great defensive skills and blocked the Hot Shots attempts to score. The game ended in a tie. The game was filled with excitement and anthusiasm from start to finish. The Force showed amazing team work and should be commended for a job well done. Go Force!!!!
