The Garden City Patriettes faced Port Washington this past Saturday. The Patriettes kept pace with this fast, aggressive team, giving their spectators an exciting hour of soccer. Garden City demonstrated excellent team work, moving the ball into the opponent's end which allowed the Patriettes to test the Port Washington goalie. More ... The Garden City Force was out with full strength this past weekend as they went up against the Plainedge Hot Shots. The Force had an amazing game, showing incredible team work with several great attempts on goal. The Hot Shots had two very skilled goalies who were successful at guarding their goal despite the many attempts made by the Force to score. More ... On September 29, 2007, the U-10 Garden City Flash beat the previously undefeated North Shore Strikers by a score of 5-0 at St. Paul's.The Flash controlled the game from the outset, moving the ball comfortably in the North Shore end of the field. More ... The Fireballs came out last Sunday morning to face the Smithtown Patriots and didn't disappoint their fans. Starting out fast, the girls took control of the match and forced the play. Gaining the advantage, the Fireballs had numerous scoring chances come from tremendous corner kicks from Christina Cesarini that flew into the box. More ... On September 29th, the Titans traveled to Plainedge to play the Rough Riders. They played a good game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but were outplayed by a more seasoned Plainedge team that has played together as a team for two years. Jim Madelmayer and Ray McRory, Co-Chairman of the Garden City Casino Tennis Program reported that the Garden City Casino held its Tennis Championship Finals on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. The tennis matches were highly competitive and a great time was had by all the participants and spectators. More ... On Saturday, September 29th, the Xtreme hosted their neighboring rival, the RVC Rage. It was a beautiful fall morning at St. Pauls. The Thunder Maroon 7s matched up vs a big Mineola team this week. In what was a tremendous defensive effort by both squads the Thunder fell a little short. Down 13-0 the Thunder rallied behind a big fourth down run by Kieran Paskewitz as he plowed over Mineola defenders for a much needed first down. More ... Another beautiful autumn day and another impressive Thunder victory. The boys of autumn took over early with Danny Dolan bruising his way to the Elmont 40 with the opening kickoff. Before Elmont knew what hit them Danny Miller burst off tackle on a counter play for a 29 yard touchdown. More ... The GC Thunder White 7's secured their second consecutive victory on Saturday against the Floral Park Titans. Although the Titans brought a tough and experienced team to the field, they proved no match for the Thunder squad, who came well-prepared and well-conditioned following a double dose of Coach Curtin's 2-hour practices during the week. More ... It was a beautiful fall afternoon at Hampton Stadium in Mineola and both the GC Thunder and the Mineola Chiefs were ready for a tough game. Unfortunately, Mineola jumped out to a 12 - 0 lead after a Thunder punt and turnover midway through the second quarter. Finally the Thunder offense put together a very good offensive drive to make the score 12 - 7 at halftime. More ... The autumn winds and fall foliage slowly creep in, and the Thunder 11 Maroon remain unbeaten. Unfortunately they had to settle for a tie, against the tough and resilient Warriors of Franklin Square. Kicking off their season with a 20-0 victory over the Bellmore Braves, the players showed their passion and skill for the game. Led by the Bantam boys (1st place) and girls (2nd, 3rd, and 4th place), the junior girls (2nd place) and a spirited run in the Senior girls division, the team proved to be a force to be reckoned with during their first competition, More ... Garden City's boy's varsity soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against Roslyn on Wednesday September 26th at GCHS. Greg Avari scored for Garden City and goalkeeper Ken Pape made four saves. On Tuesday, October 2nd Garden City's varsity field hockey team took to the turf in a game against Manhasset. With a 7-0 victory the Trojans extended their record to 6-0 in Conference I. Juniors Caroline McTiernan, Lauren Terracciano and Megan Walters scored two goals each. Chrissie Cornacchia also scored for GC.
