The Garden City Patriettes faced Port Washington this past Saturday. The Patriettes kept pace with this fast, aggressive team, giving their spectators an exciting hour of soccer. The Force had an amazing game, showing incredible team work with several great attempts on goal. They played a good game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but were outplayed by a more seasoned Plainedge team that has played together as a team for two years. On Saturday, September 29th, the Xtreme hosted their neighboring rival, the RVC Rage. It was a beautiful fall morning at St. Pauls. The Thunder Maroon 7s matched up vs a big Mineola team this week. In what was a tremendous defensive effort by both squads the Thunder fell a little short. The GC Thunder White 7's secured their second consecutive victory on Saturday against the Floral Park Titans. Although the Titans brought a tough and experienced team to the field, they proved no match for the Thunder squad, who came well-prepared and well-conditioned following a double dose of Coach Curtin's 2-hour practices during the week. More ... It was a beautiful fall afternoon at Hampton Stadium in Mineola and both the GC Thunder and the Mineola Chiefs were ready for a tough game. Unfortunately, Mineola jumped out to a 12 - 0 lead after a Thunder punt and turnover midway through the second quarter. Finally the Thunder offense put together a very good offensive drive to make the score 12 - 7 at halftime. More ... On Tuesday, October 2nd Garden City's varsity field hockey team took to the turf in a game against Manhasset. With a 7-0 victory the Trojans extended their record to 6-0 in Conference I. Juniors Caroline McTiernan, Lauren Terracciano and Megan Walters scored two goals each. Chrissie Cornacchia also scored for GC.
