Thunder 9 Maroon won their home opener last Sunday with an impressive 19-12 victory over a very tough Uniondale team. Executing sophisticated plays, the Thunder Offense was able to out-wit and out-run the noticeably bigger Uniondale team, rendering them scoreless in the first half; Thunder led 19-0 at halftime. It was a rainy windy day in mid September as the Thunder prepared for the game against rival Franklin Square. The Thunder won the coin toss and chose to defer the decision until the second half which meant we would be kicking off and sending our very capable defense on the field to set the tone for the game. More ... The GC Thunder traveled to Hempstead this past Saturday to take on the undefeated Hempstead Tigers. The Thunder had a great week of practice and were focused on bringing a "W" back to GC. The game day captains, #24 Darius Iraj, #70 Justin Holloway and #62 Lucas Hildreth won the toss for the Thunder and elected to receive the ball. More ... The Thunder Maroon 7s outlasted a stubborn Franklin Square team last week. The Maroon 7s broke the game open with scoring runs by Andrew DeSantis (2) and James Buckley. The varsity field hockey teams of Garden City and Massapequa took to the fields at GCHS on Thursday September 20th to play a non-league game. Massapequa was last year's Nassau County Class A champion, while Garden City was the Nassau Class B champion that went on to win the New York State title. More ... This past Sunday at Stewart field the tough Long Beach Mariners came to town, only to be turned away with a 12-0 loss. For those doing the math at home, that's three games, no points allowed. With 42 consecutive wins, Garden City's boys JV football team seems unstoppable, especially after their convincing 46-8 win over Bellmore on Monday afternoon September 24th at GCHS. Many touchdowns were scored on great plays by the offense while the defense intercepted the Cougars and scored touchdowns of their own. More ...
